Alarm Monitoring Controller (Night Shift)

From a chair in an armed response control room in Kariega, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Location: Kariega, Eastern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement

• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts

• Call centre work in the past
• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• CCTV operator short course

• Shift allowance for nights
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Path to senior controller or supervisor

• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
