Alarm Monitoring Controller (Night Shift)

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at a remote video monitoring centre in Soweto. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a remote video monitoring centre in Soweto. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date

• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Matric
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard

• Training on the monitoring software
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Shift allowance for nights
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
