Armed Reaction Officer (Business Parks)

When a panic button goes off in a farming district in East London, you are the one who arrives first. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a farming district on the East London side of Eastern Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Respond to alarm and panic signals sent by the control room
• Check the firearm in and out of the safe at shift start and end
• Drive the response vehicle safely at speed to client addresses
• Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
• Search the property perimeter and check doors, windows and gates

• At least 2 years in guarding or response
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Clean criminal record and no pending cases
• PSIRA Grade B or C with an armed response course
• SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)

• Advanced driving course
• First-aid Level 2 or 3
• Knowledge of the local streets and sectors

• Regular refresher shooting practice
• Danger and night allowances
• Response vehicle and firearm provided
• Group life cover through the provident fund

• Mention the areas you know well. Companies prefer officers who can find addresses fast without a GPS.
• Bring the originals of your certificates to the interview. Armed companies verify them before a shooting test.
