Job Description

This retail credit centre in Midrand needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Midrand-based, with most of your time spent at a retail credit centre.

What you'll actually do

Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.
Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.
Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.

You'll need

Matric
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
Clear credit and criminal record
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations

Nice if you have

Legal collections or attorney-firm background
Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
