Job Description

This municipal accounts office in Pinetown needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Send written arrangements by SMS or email straight after each call.
Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
Negotiate payment arrangements and set up DebiCheck mandates.
Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.

You'll need

Matric
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
Clear credit and criminal record
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations

Helpful, not essential

Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules
A second South African language
Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
