Artisan Assistant (Mining Engineering)

This diamond mine processing plant near Brits needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a diamond mine processing plant on the Brits side of North West. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job

• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science

• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Housing support in the mining town
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox

• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
