Job Description

You'll keep machines turning and parts in spec at the plastics injection moulding factory in Komani. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The site is in Komani; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

  • Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
  • Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
  • Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
  • Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
  • Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors

You'll need

  • Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
  • N2 or N3 engineering subjects
  • Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
  • Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
  • At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
  • You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers

Nice if you have

  • CNC programming experience
  • Forklift licence for moving heavy parts

On offer

  • Shift and standby allowances
  • Paid overtime on shutdowns
  • Chance to study further toward a technician diploma

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): references from maintenance managers, certified copy of your identity document or smart card plus trade test certificate plus N-certificates.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 7 working days.

How2Apply recruits for this position on behalf of hiring employers around Komani; applications go into our talent pool and shortlisted candidates are introduced directly.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Before you hit apply

  • Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
  • If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
