Artisan Fitter (Conveyor Maintenance) – Immediate Start

The sugar mill in Montague Gardens needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a sugar mill in Montague Gardens. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors

• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers

• CNC programming experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses
• Food safety awareness for food and drink plants

• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Shift and standby allowances
• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Tool allowance

• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
