Job Description

You'll run your own files from instruction to judgment at a personal injury and medical negligence firm in Cape Town CBD. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Cape Town CBD-based, with most of your time spent at a personal injury and medical negligence firm.

The work, day to day

Brief counsel and prepare them for trial and opposed motions
Advise clients on risk, settlement and next steps in plain language
Record billable time and hit the monthly target
Manage a portfolio of litigation or advisory matters on your own
Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions

What you need

At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
Strong drafting and legal research
Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
Sound judgement under deadline pressure

Nice if you have

Notarial admission
Certificate in data protection or compliance
Existing client following
