Automatic Gearbox Technician

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy used car dealership workshop in Brakpan. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is Brakpan-based, with most of your time spent at an used car dealership workshop. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services

• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Your own basic toolbox
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training

• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Staff discount on parts and services

• Put your trade test date and the car brands you know best at the top of your CV.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
