Diesel Mechanic (Heavy Commercial Trucks)

You'll service and repair heavy diesel vehicles for the earthmoving plant hire company in Tembisa. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Tembisa-based, with most of your time spent at an earthmoving plant hire company. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Attend roadside breakdowns in the service truck
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines

• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• Auto electrical skills
• Brand-specific heavy vehicle courses

• Provident fund and funeral cover
• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Overtime available most weeks
