Automotive Technician (Diagnostics)

Good with a scan tool and a torque wrench? This franchised passenger vehicle dealership in Mamelodi needs you in a bay. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Mamelodi. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted

• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Your own basic toolbox
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets

• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Staff discount on parts and services

• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
