Automatic Gearbox Technician

You'll service, diagnose and repair cars in a busy fast-fit tyre and service centre in Gqeberha. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a fast-fit tyre and service centre on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts

• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
