This fast-fit tyre and service centre in Pretoria East needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a fast-fit tyre and service centre on the Pretoria East side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner
• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs

• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Your own basic toolbox
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer
• Staff discount on parts and services

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
• If you hit or beat your sold-hour target, say by how much. Workshop managers love that number.
