Hybrid and EV Technician (Light Vehicles) – Immediate Start

This used car dealership workshop in Alberton needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at an used car dealership workshop in Alberton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Keep your bay, tools and special service tools clean and counted
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Diagnose engine, ABS and airbag faults with an OBD-II diagnostic scanner

• At least 3 years as a qualified mechanic in a dealership or workshop
• Your own basic toolbox
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Code 08 licence so you can road test cars
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4

• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
