Bakery Production Hand (Early Shift)

Machines set the pace at this industrial bakery in Prospecton; you keep up and catch the faults. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is in Prospecton (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

• Some basic first-aid training
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
