Behind every good plate at this casual dining restaurant in Lephalale is a cook who preps properly, and that could be you. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a casual dining restaurant in Lephalale. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Cook for banquets and conference lunches of 100 to 400 guests.
• Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
• Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
• Help cost recipes and track waste on the weekly sheet.
• Label, date and rotate stock using first-in, first-out.
• Clean down your section, deep-clean the fryer and scrub the extractor filters.

• Weekend, holiday and evening work is part of the deal
• Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
• 1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen
• You know food safety basics under R638 and HACCP
• A culinary certificate or City & Guilds, or solid on-the-job experience

• Chef whites and safety shoes provided
• Two staff meals per shift
• Transport allowance for split and late shifts

• Do not leave gaps unexplained; if you did casual banquet work between jobs, say so on your CV.
• Expect a trade test: bring your own knives, arrive early and clean as you go the whole time.
