Bar Attendant (Weekend Shift)

Guests at this busy mall coffee shop in Springs come back for the people, and you'll be one of the reasons. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a busy mall coffee shop on the Springs side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.

• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift

• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training

• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• Staff meal on every shift
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius

• Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
• Walk in with your CV between 2pm and 4pm when managers have time, not during lunch or dinner service.
