Berry Picker (Tunnel Farm)

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a deciduous fruit orchard near Burgersfort through the season. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a deciduous fruit orchard on the Burgersfort side of Limpopo. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently

• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Careful with fruit, since bruised fruit is rejected
• Available for the full harvest season
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules

• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Seasonal accommodation on some farms

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
