Irrigation Assistant (Crop Farm)

Crops do not wait, and a deciduous fruit orchard near Mokopane needs extra hands this season. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is in Mokopane (Limpopo). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Move irrigation pipes and check drippers for blockages
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs

• Willing to start at sunrise
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Available for the full harvest season
• Valid ID or work permit
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Living on or near the farm
• Previous harvest or picking experience
• Tractor or quad bike experience

• Seasonal accommodation on some farms
• Farm transport from nearby towns
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage

• If you have picked before, say which crop and how many seasons. Farms rehire experienced pickers first.
• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
