Seasonal Fruit Picker (Citrus Harvest)

Outdoor work with your hands on a vegetable farm near Mokopane; no experience needed for most posts. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Mokopane, Limpopo. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Prune and thin fruit trees and vines to the farm's method
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs
• Fill crates or bins and carry them to the collection point
• Follow the re-entry times after spraying, as the signs show
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety

• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Valid ID or work permit
• Available for the full harvest season
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders

• Previous harvest or picking experience

• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
