Job Description

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The coal mine engineering workshop near Centurion needs you on that team. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a coal mine engineering workshop on the Centurion side of Gauteng.

The work, day to day

Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Order spares and track them through the engineering store
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers

You'll need

Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits

Extra points for

Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
Flameproof equipment training for coal mines
