Rigger (Shaft & Headgear)

You'll keep machines, conveyors and shafts running at the diamond mine processing plant near Kempton Park. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a diamond mine processing plant on the Kempton Park side of Gauteng.

• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Guide and teach an artisan assistant on the job
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Order spares and track them through the engineering store

• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine

• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines

• Housing support in the mining town
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications

• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
• Mention underground or flameproof experience clearly. It separates mine-ready artisans from factory artisans.
