Job Description

This platinum mine engineering department near Upington needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is Upington-based, with most of your time spent at a platinum mine engineering department. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls
Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages

What you need

Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine

Nice if you have

SAP PM module experience
Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
