Bookkeeper to Trial Balance (Sage Pastel)

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a property management company in Kariega. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is in Kariega (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
• Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out

• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules

• Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys

• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Office hours with no weekend work

• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
