Boom Gate Controller (Industrial Park)

The gate at an industrial park in Bethlehem is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at an industrial park in Bethlehem. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards

• Clean criminal record
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols

• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• Previous experience at a similar site type
• First-aid Level 1 certificate

• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Provident fund contributions

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
