Boom Gate Controller (Industrial Park) – Fixed-Term

The gate at an industrial park in Epping is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is an industrial park on the Epping side of Western Cape. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it

• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Speaks and writes basic English

• Previous experience at a similar site type
• First-aid Level 1 certificate
• Firefighting or evacuation training

• Provident fund contributions
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Stable long-term site contracts

• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
