Boom Gate Controller (Industrial Park)

You'll control who comes in and out of a private school campus in Epping, and log every visitor properly. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a private school campus in Epping. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clean criminal record
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred

• Previous experience at a similar site type
• First-aid Level 1 certificate

• Provident fund contributions
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
