Breakfast Waitron (Hotel Restaurant)

You'll look after tables at a family steakhouse in Brackenfell, from the first greeting to the final bill. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Brackenfell (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Carry plates to the right seat without auctioning food at the table.
• Greet guests, seat them and hand over menus within a minute of arrival.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.

• Own transport or a safe way home after late shifts
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• You can stand and walk for a full 8-hour shift
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests

• A barista course certificate or latte-art skills
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• Staff meal on every shift
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence
• Uniform supplied and laundered
• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly

• Walk in with your CV between 2pm and 4pm when managers have time, not during lunch or dinner service.
• Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
