Kitchen Assistant (Prep & Scullery)

You'll cook fast, clean food on the line at a hospital catering unit in Atlantis. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Atlantis. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Label, date and rotate stock using first-in, first-out.
• Run your station during service and call back every ticket from the pass.
• Plate to the spec photo so every dish looks the same.
• Train the kitchen assistants on knife safety and prep standards.
• Bake breads, pastries or desserts for the morning buffet.
• Cook for banquets and conference lunches of 100 to 400 guests.

• A culinary certificate or City & Guilds, or solid on-the-job experience
• Good knife skills and you can prep at speed
• 1 to 3 years in a busy commercial kitchen
• You take instruction from the head chef without drama

• A food safety certificate from a registered training provider
• Experience with combi ovens and batch cooking

• Transport allowance for split and late shifts
• Two staff meals per shift
• On-the-job training with a path to chef de partie

• Expect a trade test: bring your own knives, arrive early and clean as you go the whole time.
• Do not leave gaps unexplained; if you did casual banquet work between jobs, say so on your CV.
