Job Description

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a low-cost housing development in Bloemfontein. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a low-cost housing development in Bloemfontein. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

  • Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
  • Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
  • Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
  • Clear rubble and load it into skips
  • Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
  • Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work

You'll need

  • Prepared to travel between sites in the area
  • Willing to start early, often at 06:30
  • You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
  • A clean record is preferred for some government sites
  • Grade 8 or higher
  • Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan

Nice if you have

  • Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
  • Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
  • A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket

On offer

  • Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
  • Paid weekly or fortnightly
  • Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site

How to apply for this job

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: certified ID copy and proof of address in the area plus any safety or scaffolding certificates.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 6 working days.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Bloemfontein.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

  • List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
  • Government-funded projects often reserve jobs for people from the local ward. Bring proof of address and ask the site office about the local labour desk.
