Loading Bay Hand (Beverage Depot)

Trucks come in heavy and leave loaded at this cement and brick yard in Harrismith, and you move the stock in between. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a cement and brick yard in Harrismith. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first

• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• No criminal record

• Basic furniture assembly skills
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Meal allowance on long-route days
• Uniform and safety shoes provided

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• Keep your CV to one page with your phone number big and clear. Depot managers phone, they seldom email.
