Calf Rearer (Dairy Farm)

You'll feed, milk and care for animals on a cattle feedlot near Kariega, every day of the year. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Kariega-based, with most of your time spent at a cattle feedlot. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Help the vet with vaccinations and treatments
• Move animals between camps or pens calmly
• Milk cows in the parlour following the milking routine
• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager

• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules
• Comfortable around large animals
• South African ID or a legal work permit
• Reliable, since animals depend on you

• Previous dairy or livestock experience
• Supervisory experience for foreman roles
• Basic farm maintenance skills

• Milk or meat rations

• Say which animals you have worked with and for how long. Farmers want someone who already knows the routine.
