Healthy animals mean a healthy farm; on a broiler chicken farm near Mamelodi, you keep them that way. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a broiler chicken farm in Mamelodi. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Feed animals the right ration at the right time
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Clean pens, houses and milking equipment
• Move animals between camps or pens calmly
• Follow biosecurity rules like foot baths and clean overalls

• Gentle and patient with animals
• Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules
• Comfortable around large animals
• Able to live on the farm or close by
• Reliable, since animals depend on you
• South African ID or a legal work permit

• Basic farm maintenance skills
• Previous dairy or livestock experience

• Training in animal health
• Farm housing on site
• Milk or meat rations
• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets

• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
• Say which animals you have worked with and for how long. Farmers want someone who already knows the routine.
