Grape Harvest Worker (Wine Farm)

You'll pick, prune and look after crops on a vegetable farm near Roodepoort through the season. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Roodepoort-based, with most of your time spent at a vegetable farm. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Keep your picking card or tag count for daily pay
• Pick fruit or vegetables at the right ripeness and size, gently
• Plant seedlings in rows at the spacing shown
• Weed beds by hand or with a hoe
• Wash hands and use the field toilets for food safety
• Clean and store picking bags, ladders and secateurs

• Available for the full harvest season
• Follows farm hygiene and safety rules
• Able to work outdoors in heat, cold and rain
• Willing to start at sunrise
• Physically fit for bending, lifting and climbing ladders
• Valid ID or work permit

• Tractor or quad bike experience
• Living on or near the farm

• Chance of a permanent post after good seasons
• Piece-rate bonus on top of daily wage
• Farm transport from nearby towns

• Have your bank details ready. Most farms pay into a bank account and will not start you without it.
• Farms hire before the season starts, so apply four to six weeks early. Late arrivals often find the teams already full.
