Job Description

Court runs, drafting and client consultations: a small general practice law firm in Rosslyn will put you to work from week one. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Rosslyn-based, with most of your time spent at a small general practice law firm.

What you'll actually do

Prepare trial bundles and discovery affidavits
Appear in the magistrate's court on postponements and unopposed matters
Issue and serve documents at the magistrate's court and High Court
Research case law and legislation on SAFLII and Juta or LexisNexis
Keep matter files updated and diarise court dates and deadlines

You'll need

Good legal research and clear written English
Ready to sign a practical vocational training contract registered with the LPC
Code B driver's licence and a reliable car for court runs
Proficient in Word, Outlook and legal research databases

Helpful, not essential

Moot court or legal clinic experience
Second official language used by the firm's clients
