Job Description

This road agency project office in Randburg needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a road agency project office on the Randburg side of Gauteng.

The work, day to day

Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations

Must-haves

Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site

Helpful, not essential

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
