Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this electrical consulting engineering firm in Boksburg needs a sharp electrical engineer. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Boksburg (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

The work, day to day

Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

Must-haves

ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating

Extra points for

PLC programming certification
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
