Job Description

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the municipal infrastructure department in Vanderbijlpark. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a municipal infrastructure department on the Vanderbijlpark side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Write design reports and handover documents
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162

What you need

Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field

Nice if you have

Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Registration with SAICE and active CPD
