Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this municipal electricity department in Kuruman needs a sharp electrical engineer. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Kuruman-based, with most of your time spent at a municipal electricity department. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

The work, day to day

Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms

What you need

Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Nice if you have

PLC programming certification
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
