Job Description

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the municipal electricity department in Pretoria West. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is in Pretoria West (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works

You'll need

ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Nice if you have

Protection or HV operating authorisation
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
