Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this electrical consulting engineering firm in Vereeniging needs a sharp electrical engineer. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at an electrical consulting engineering firm in Vereeniging. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records

Must-haves

Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites

Nice if you have

Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
PLC programming certification
