Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The municipal electricity department in Tembisa needs you to make it so. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Home base is a municipal electricity department on the Tembisa side of Gauteng. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records

You'll need

At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
