Job Description

This civil engineering consultancy in Fourways needs someone who can check a design and then go and check it was built right. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The site is in Fourways; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts

Must-haves

Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Helpful, not essential

Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
