Cashbook and Recon Clerk – Permanent

Recons that balance and suppliers who get paid right: that's the job at a family-owned manufacturer in Richards Bay. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a family-owned manufacturer on the Richards Bay side of KwaZulu-Natal.

• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
• Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero

• Matric with Accounting
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• At least 2 years of hands-on bookkeeping or clerk work

• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys

• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms
• Office hours with no weekend work

• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
