Job Description

Winter fire season is near, and a pine plantation near Pinetown needs crews ready. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

The work, day to day

Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Apply herbicide around young trees as instructed
Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks

You'll need

Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Valid ID
Willing to work in remote areas
Physically strong and fit for steep slopes

Nice if you have

Previous plantation or sawmill experience
Fire fighting training
