Civil Design Technician (Stormwater)

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the bulk water utility in Germiston. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Germiston; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
• Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
• Write design reports and handover documents
• Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
• Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
• Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments

• Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
• At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
• BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
• Good grasp of South African design codes for your field

• Contract management training for NEC or GCC
• Registration with SAICE and active CPD
