Job Description

The solar and battery project developer in Germiston needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is a solar and battery project developer on the Germiston side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres

You'll need

Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites

Helpful, not essential

Protection or HV operating authorisation
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
