Job Description

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the bulk water utility in Sandton. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work, day to day

Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Write design reports and handover documents
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts

Must-haves

At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site

Extra points for

Registration with SAICE and active CPD
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
Master's degree in structural or water engineering
