Electrical Engineering Technologist (Substations)

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this manufacturing plant in Centurion needs a sharp electrical engineer. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Centurion; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records

• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating

• PLC programming certification
• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
• Protection or HV operating authorisation

• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
